Hey everyone thanks for the warm welcome back. I want to get some opinions about a rule in my sons class. She has a rule about how many times students can go to the bathroom during class time. The student gets two passes for the bathroom a week. After they use those passes then 5 min is deducted from thier free time on Friday that gives them 6 more trips. After that they get detention. Now from the time they get to school till the time they get their chance for a bathroom break is usually four hours.
Now please tell me your opinions fair/unfair and advantage/disadvantages of having this rule.

I can see why the teacher has that rule. Bathroom breaks can get out of hand. However 4 hours is a long time to go with out a restroom break. Have you talked to the teacher yet?

Please help me understand what you mean by "that gives them 6 more trips". My understanding was that they only got 2 passes per week--Why would 5 minutes be deducted off of their free time plus they get 6 extra trips to the bathroom? Perhaps you heard your information wrong because that certainly doesn't make sense to me. If the stats you share with us now are in fact true, than I completly disagree with the current system. For one thing, this will confuse the children in how many times they get to go to the bathroom, and why they would get a detention for going to the bathroom completly blows my mind. Having said that, I DO agree that there should be limits regarding how many students go to the bathroom at a time. That is reasonable in my books, but punishing the children and then allowing them MORE time to go to the bathroom is out-of-the-question ridiculous. Please DO talk to the teacher about compromising this ridiculous rule and share your OWN thoughts and opinions with her. I am sure that she will cherish the initiative parents who approach her when they disagree and stand up for what obviously isn't right. You will get to know each other better and she will know that you DO care about the education of the children and you want to do what you can as a parent to help improve that, whether it be volunteering or discussing new ideas/suggestions. Good luck in whatever you choose to do with the situation.

This is perhaps the worst rule I have come across. I don't understand though why would a rule like this exist? Are the students misusing their bathroom breaks? If so, why? The school definitely needs to give more reasons for this ridiculous law. What happens if the children feel pressured into never telling what happens with their body. Surely, the teachers will look at the children suspiciously if they want to go more often. This rule sounds like one of those that may have a severe backlash. You must definitely inquire more.
